Computers
computer
The library currently has ten computers for public internet use and two computers reserved for the use of children. Here is the lowdown on library computers:

Computer and internet use are free, but we can only provide access to each patron for one hour a day, once a day. There is a cost to print: 25 cents per page.

Computers are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. If all computers are in use, there is a waiting list.

Library computers can be used to access the internet and have programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint for projects, assignments, or resumes. All computers also have messaging software such as Microsoft Instant Messenger and Yahoo Messenger. Please note that you cannot save your work onto library computers, so you must bring your own diskette or USB stick. Diskettes can be purchased from the front desk for $2.00.

Children and Teen Computers have filtering software called ContentProtect.

Children's computers have a number of educational games installed, including Rugrats, Spongebob Squarepants, The Learning Company's Adventure Workshop (Preschool to Grade 6), The Magic School Bus, Lion King Animated Storybook, Oregon Trail, and Reader Rabbit's First Grade.

Wireless and Wired Internet Access for Laptop / Notebook Computers

Would you like to bring your notebook to the library? The library has two options for notebook users.

Wired Connection

The library has four wired internet connections for notebooks. These spaces are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Wireless
Throughout the library, there is wireless access for notebooks that have a wireless modem. In order to use the wireless, you must use enter an encryption key. This can be obtained at the circulation desk, along with a copy of the library's wireless access policy.

Generally, the closer you are to the front desk, the stronger our wireless signal is.
