Volunteering Volunteers are individuals who reach out beyond the confines of paid employment and normal responsibilities to contribute time and service to assist the Stony Plain Public Library to accomplish its mission, in the belief that their activity is beneficial to others as well as satisfying for themselves. Stony Plain Public Library is always seeking responsible, dedicated and fun members of the community to volunteer at a variety of different tasks. If you are interest in volunteering in an advocacy and fundraising capacity, please consider joining the Friends of the Library. If you are interested in volunteering in an advocacy and governance capacity, please consider membership on the Stony Plain Public Library Board. Current Volunteer Opportunities Position Title: Computer & Internet Tutor Purpose of Position: To tutor or assist clients of the Stony Plain Public Library in computer and Internet use. Duties: To meet with clients at appropriate time for tutoring Run instructional camps for groups of no more than 4 individuals on a specific topic Assist clients with computer/Internet related questions Adhere to Stony Plain Public Library policies and procedures in proper computer and Internet use Requirements: Competence in use of computers, the Internet, Word, Excel and email. Reliable and punctual Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Ability to work with minimal supervision Willingness and patience to teach others Police record check and 3 references Time Commitment: Approximately 2 to 5 hours per week as decided between the volunteer and Coordinator. Position runs indefinitely. |
